Welcome to Saskatchewan.
For three days in August, our province will play host to the nation, as premiers and delegates from Canada’s 13 provinces and territories converge on our capital city of Regina for the 2009 Council of the Federation Summer Meeting.
There is no place quite like Saskatchewan in the summertime, with our beautiful lakes, vibrant parks and unmatched sunsets.
I’m pleased to be able to meet with my fellow premiers at historic Government House, a beautifully restored heritage property and museum that once was the official residence for Saskatchewan’s Lieutenant Governors. Today, it still houses the office of the Lieutenant Governor and educates the public about Saskatchewan at the turn of the 20th century and the historical role of the Crown in Canada.
It’s a fitting place to meet as we discuss how our provinces and territories can work together to build a stronger federation and advance the lives of all Canadians.
On behalf of my family and my government, I am proud to welcome premiers, Council of the Federation delegates, and your families to Saskatchewan, and to share our province with you.
Brad Wall
Premier of Saskatchewan
